Andreas setup and completed the Aquamembrane experiment over the course of the whole day and literally wrapped the experiment up, first investigation complete on the International Space Station! The waste water that he purified with new nano-technology membranes has been stored and will return to Earth later for analysis.

In between two Aquamembrane sessions Andreas transmitted to ground the three Space Headache questionnaires he completed with paper and pencil while enroute to the International Space Station. His fourth questionnaire was entered directly into a Station computer and sent digitally to the researchers.

Andreas took a picture of the Bistro experiment and did his first tasting session of the space snacks made from Spirulina.

At 16:55 GMT Andreas had his first live call from space. Called a ‘Public Affair Objective’ or PAO in space lingo, he setup the scene with a Danish and ESA flag in the Columbus module and spoke to the Danish Prime Minister among others live on TV. Andreas’s backup, ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet was at the event in Denmark and helped moderate the call.

A few mandatory emergency training sessions were held over the day and Andreas also had some adaptation periods where he could further get used to weightlessness and his new temporary home.

Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui checked that the Kubik incubator was running as planned and confirmed that the samples are at the correct 37°C and spinning at the right speed to simulate Earthly gravity.
