Marco Sieber is one of ESA’s five astronaut candidates currently undergoing basic astronaut training at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne. Back in November 2022, the European Space Agency selected 17 members from 22,500 applicants across its 22 member states for a new astronaut class. Five of them commenced basic astronaut training with ESA in April 2023, while another 11 members form a reserve pool, ready to be selected for future missions.
