Alex spoke to US media from onboard the International Space Station earlier this week. He discussed the Rosetta mission’s arrival at comet 67P/C-G on Wednesday, the imminent arrival of Europe’s cargo vessel ATV-5.

Dear Mr Alexander Gerst,
thank you so much for the fascinating details from onboard the ISS.
The tiny model of our home planet is a fantastic demonstrator for the human race and a permanent action of goodwill for a coexistence in friendship with our neighbours. Not to jeopardize the pale blue dot called our home, we should bear in our minds „friendship doesn’t sink“.
Alexander you are a human treasure, our hero in the orbit! All the best for you and the other „space cowboys“ in the ISS and all the Technicians and Engineers working for a further smooth flight as well. Many happy moments in orbit and a save landing for you and all the other companions and heroes in the ISS.
