SpaceRocks patch

SpaceRocks patch

Hello all!

Tim’s #spacerocks competition is exceeding all expectations and is creating a lot of interest in his mission, by increasing Twitter followers and awareness of space. Here on Tim’s blog, we’ll be sharing with you the tracks that Tim selected and the winners, 15 at a time. Here’s the first set of highly skilful and knowledgeable winners:

  • @mark_otbc, from Norfolk, UK
  • @PleasedToMichu from North Yorkshire, UK
  • @AngryStormcloack from Sligo, Ireland
  • @pjvolders from Sint-Amandsberg, Belgium
  • @GeorgeDuckett
  • @I_am_wildthing from Gardens Dunstable, UK
  • @sandy_moffat
  • @petejbell from Rippondon, UK
  • @astroenzo from Sicily, Italy
  • @dirmster95
  • @_sseT_
  • @Do_the_bender
  • @TomAndrew93
  • @sophiejharlow
  • @JKMcCloskey

You can see and hear the first 15 songs that Tim included on his #spacerocks playlist, as well as more of his favourites, on ESA’s Spotify channel.

In particular, Tim also wanted to add his appreciation for his special ‘back-up crew’, the singers, musicians and bands, who have all given their time and shown their support for ESA and Tim’s mission, as well as their management and communications teams who’ve worked behind the scenes to help.

For the first 15 #spacerocks, we thank: Snow Patrol, Ilan Eshkeri and Andy Burrows, Queen, Dr Brian May, Kaiser Chiefs, Def Leppard, Phil Collins, Amy McDonald, Martha Rafferty, Dave Stewart & Eurythmics and Dave Davies of The Kinks.

For the many videos and messages wishing Tim well on his launch and the spacewalk, we also thank: Peter Gabriel, Pat Monahan (Train), Mike Oldfield, Tasmin Archer, Chris Stein, Debbie Harry, Sting, Inspiral Carpets, Marillion, Justin Currie (Del Amitri), Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Depeche Mode, Elton John, James Blunt, Madness, Pixie Lott, The Cult, Dido, Pet Shop Boys, Ash, Tony Hadley, Keane, The Who, Duran Duran, Muse and Paul McCartney among others, with many more to come!  There’s a special thank you to Ian Neil, Sony/ATV, BMG, Universal Music and Spotify for their services.

Slight change of rules

Tim is amazed by the response to his competition. In fact, the response is so great, we have to make a slight change in the rules, because now there are so many people replying with the correct answer in the same split second, it is impossible to distinguish who was first.

From spacerocks 19 and onwards we will now randomly choose a fully correct answer from those submitted within the first 20 seconds (provided you haven’t won before of course).

There are still 60 more #spacepatches to play for – so if you didn’t win anything so far, keep following and you never know!
