The countdown was set to 7am in Germany and school starts at 7:35am. I walked to the bus station with the live stream running on my phone.
I drove to school by Bus while the countdown was held at T-10 Minutes. My first period was Sports/ P. E. While the others did the warm-up for Badminton, I sat next to the field and watched the countdown with the greatest excitement ever.
And then…..
The mighty successor of the legendary and nearly mystic Saturn V, the Space Launch System, ignited its engines. The boosters were running and water filled the surroundings. The commentators counted “Main engines start 3…2…1…Boosters ignition. And lift-off of Artemis 1. We rise together back to the moon and beyond! ” I was stunned. I was happy. It was a glorious experience watching the Rocket pushing itself up into the air and out of the atmosphere. During the launch I got a little crowd around my phone with 5 or 6 other comrades. After 2 or 3 minutes into the launch, I turned off the phone because the teacher looked straight through the hall over to me and I didn’t want to get him mad at me. XD
It was an extraordinary experience, even “just” with the live stream.
I am curious about the future.
