Mission report for 16 August from ATV-CC in Toulouse. August is a busy month!

 A lot of hatches being opened and closed up there…

On the 9th, ATV was configured for HTV berthing and the first liquid waste was transferred to ATV’s tanks. On the 12th and 13th, we had O2 and air transfer; on the 14th the second batch of liquid waste was transferred and since the 15th the hatch has been closed for the Russian EVAs, taking place on the 16th (7hrs:29mins – the longest Russian EVA on record!) and planned for 22 August.

GENERAL STATUS

  • ATV hatch closed
  • Numerous activities this week, as planned (oxygen & air transferred to ISS, last purging steps of refuelling phase, two liquid waste transfers to ATV tanks)

ATV STATUS

  • Attached dormant mode, hatch closed till 23 August
  • All refuelling operations performed

ATV-CC STATUS and ATV GROUND SEGMENT

  • All ATV-CC systems nominal
  • ATV monitoring and routine attached activities

CARGO and FUEL STATUS

  • Dry cargo : initial 2 489kg, 100% transferred
  • Accepted trash : 1224kg (no change)
  • Accepted liquid waste : 176 l in tank 1
  • Water : 151kg available (transferred 414Kg/73% ) (no change)
  • Air (2 tanks) : 48.4kg available (transferred 17.9kg/27%)
  • Oxygen (1 tank): 23.4kg available (transferred  8.9kg/30%)
  • Propellant : used 1108kg, available for ISS supports : 2 332kg (no change)
  • Refuelling propellant : initial 860kg, 100% transferred

EXECUTED OPERATIONS

  • 09 August: ATV in configuration for HTV4 berthing
  • 09 August: first liquid waste transfer to tank 1
  • 12 August: first O2 repressurisation (cabin fan reactivated during the transfer)
  • 13 August: first air transfer
  • 13 August: RFS Purging and vacuuming
  • 14 August: Second  liquid waste transfer to tank 1
  • 14 August: Second vacuuming of the oxidiser lines
  • 15 August: Water tank 2 bladder integrity checked
  • 15 August: Crew ingress then ATV hatch closed
