That’s it – ATV2 is (almost) a wrap! Undocking is set for tomorrow at 14:48 UTC / 16:48 CEST. In the meantime, the hatch is closed and ATV is dark and quiet. End of mission is almost here.
Until we get the next round of updates from the team at ATV-CC on Monday, mid-dayish, we thought we’d recall the incredible successes of the JK mission with a couple of links. First, take a look at Friday’s excellent report in the ESA website, “ATV preparing for fiery destruction” – a nice, tight review of mission milestones.
And if you missed the fantastic, rocking Pink Martini music video celebrating JK’s docking day back on 24 February (seems ages ago!), scroll down and hit ‘Play’ – and prepared to be impressed. Remember: automatic docking is what ATV does best – but the astros get involved, too! And a little music never hurts…
(From 24 February 2011) Portland, Oregon, USA-based band Pink Martini have sent in a fantastic video greeting for the entire ISS crew and especially ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli, from Italy, and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Kaleri as they get ready for today’s ATV Johannes Kepler docking. Lead singer China Forbes sends the group’s best wishes and she’s dedicated one of their favourite tracks, Dosvedanya Mio Bombino – a song about Russia and Italy – to the two astros in space. We’ve mashed up her greeting with some recent ISS and ATV footage, which we hope you’ll enjoy.
Thanks, China, and thanks to everyone at Pink Martini for your support and encouragement! Music and lyrics Copyright (C) Pink Martini – used with permission. More on Pink Martini via https://www.pinkmartini.com.
