Today will be the last time the Concordia crew see the Sun for 3.5 months. Adrianos Golemis, ESA-sponsored research doctor tweeted this:

Beginning of the long polar night at Concordia Station – last sunrise today and 3.5 months of darkness ahead! Good Night, everyone!

Spirits seem high as the team of 15 enter the long darkness. Far from going to sleep the crew will continue running the base and performing research that can only be performed at this unique location.
