Today was an important day for the Expedition 46/47 astronauts: they got to see and try their spacecraft and Sokol suits for the first time.

The trio entered their spacecraft to ensure everything ‘fits’ and test their made-to-measure Soyuz seats. These seats must be snug to absorb the shocks of launch – and landing six months later.

Tim, Tim and Yuri also tested the Sokol suits that will protect them if the spacecraft loses pressure. By inflating the suits they can detect leaks by looking for gas escaping the suit.

On Wednesday 2 December the trio will do some physical training, train for their flight and for an experiment training as well as receive a briefing on International Space Station safety procedures.
