Today the Japanese cargo supply ship HTV-6 will leave the International Space Station after 46 days. The cargo ship arrived 12 December and was captured using the Station’s Canadarm by NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough and ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet.

The vessel brought 12 tonnes of supplies including new batteries that were installed on a spacewalk and mini-satellites that were launched from the Space Station.

Watch live today from 15:00 GMT as Thomas and Shane operate the robotic arm to send it on its way, to burn up harmlessly as it reenters Earth’s atmosphere. Release is planned for 15:30.
