We’re delighted to announce the launch of “Rosetta, are we there yet?” a photo contest to support the last leg of the epic voyage to comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. Of course, there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs.
Read the official launch article HERE for the full story, but in short, here’s what to do:
1. You need: a camera, or mobile phone with a camera
2. Capture an “Are we there yet?” moment while you’re on a journey or arriving at a destination. Options: take a selfie, make a Rosetta model or fill in our banner to tell us where you’re going; do all three or something else – just be creative (more tips and tricks via the launch article).
3. Upload your photo between 9 July and 6 August via esa.int/RosettaCompetition, via the Rosetta Mission Facebook page, or by Twitter or Instagram using the #RosettaAreWeThereYet hashtag
4. Vote and share your favourite photos between 6 and 21 August to win Rosetta gifts and a chance to be at ESA’s operations centre in Germany in November, for the VIP event celebrating the first landing on a comet

Can I ask, how did the sixth burn go today. It is 12:37 UTC now and should there be news yet?
Don’t forget the extra 22 mins or so for the signal to arrive back on Earth… plus some additional time for our spacecraft operators to check the data… and then they will let us know. Thanks!

I thought I had taken the 22 minute delay into account, perhaps I was a bit quick.
I am certainly looking forward to seeing closer images of the nucleus, and the extraordinary images released last week showing the distant nucleus rotating, despite being only four pixels wide, definitely showed a shape, and what appears to me to be a concavity.
We’ll see.
It is always a huge relief to hear the burns are going extremely well. Always a little anxious, even with the smaller burns, it’s always good to know that they worked and Rosetta has not suffered any damage, etc.
The Rosetta Are we there yet, looks fun. I think you will get some great and funny photos.
Already Rosetta has completed and amazing mission, unique views of the Earth and Moon, spectacular Mars encounter, are people aware that there are a some amazing high phase angles of Phobos taken by Rosetta?
Phobos looks small in these images, because Phobos IS small, but those images are incredible none the less.
Not to mention the incredible encounters with Main Belt Asteroids 2867 Steins and the huge 21 Lutetia. Both absolutely incredible encounters with many amazing images too.
Now we are kreeping towards 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko and shortly a whole new solar system piece of real estate will be in full view.
