On the morning of 12 March 2012 the International Space Station made a pass over a virtually cloudless northern Europe. Taking a break from his working day, ISS Expedition 30 crewmember André Kuipers took the opportunity to take a series of photographs of his homeland, the Netherlands.

The photographs shot with a 400mm lens show details such as the pier in coastal resort Scheveningen, the racing track in Zandvoort as well as Schiphol airport on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the city where André grew up.
