Yesterday, the team continued testing Sentinel-1B. These tests included checking the ‘redundant avionics sub-system, the onboard computer and the attitude and orbit control subsystem’s sensors and actuators. We also did a health check on the payload data handling memory modules.

As well as preparing Sentinel-1B for launch, the launch campaign also involves setting up communications links between Kourou and ESA’s European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Germany.

ESOC received telemetry from the satellite, which completes the setup of the network data interface unit (NDIU). This will be used on the day of launch to send telemetry back to ESOC and also for the communications loop between Kourou and ESOC.

So, the launch campaign is all going to plan with liftoff for the second Sentinel-1 satellite planned for 22 April.
